Breaks around opening parenthesis
| Setting | Description |

| Newline before | Opening parenthesis is placed on a newline. The setting is ignored when the parentheses take part in an arithmetic expression and the Allow breaks if part of an expressionrule is active. |
| Newline after | Content of parentheses is placed on newline. |
Breaks around closing parenthesis

| Newline before | Closing parenthesis is placed on a newline. |
| Newline after | Newline is added after the closing parenthesis. Setting is ignored when the parentheses take part in an arithmetic expression and the Allow breaks if part of an expressionrule is active. |
Allow breaks if part of an expression

| Allow breaks | Specifies if the layout rules for placing the parenthesis on newline to be applied if the parentheses are in an arithmetic expression. |
Minimum enclosed items to allow breaks
| Setting | Description |

| Allow breaks | The rule prevents adding breaks around parentheses when there are less than a minimum number of enclosed items. |
Parenthesis space placement rules control what spaces to be placed around parenthesis.
Space around opening parenthesis
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Space before | Places a single space in front of the opening parenthesis. Only applies if there is no newline before the opening parenthesis. |
| Space after | Places a single space after the opening parenthesis. Only applies if there is no newline after the opening parenthesis. |
Space around closing parenthesis

| Space before | Places a single space in front of the closing parenthesis. Only applies if there is no newline before the parenthesis. |
| Space after | Places a single space after the closing parenthesis. Only applies if there is no newline after the parenthesis. |
Parentheses content indention space
Controls the indention of the content of the parentheses.
